Mt Louisa Lookout Walk Whenever we are caravanning with our little dog Mel we are always on the lookout for dog friendly walking locations. In the Townsville area, just to the west of the main town was the Mt Louisa Lookout Walk. It was a short drive from the caravan park to the carpark near …

Foggy start for our last day of our roadtrip. Time flew and we soon saw the freeway sign for our town, Dromana. Somewhere up on the side of Arthur’s Seat was home.
Second last day of our roadtrip we finally cross back into Victoria. Stopped at Euroa beside the water for our last night.
This was the second last day of our roadtrip. Stopped at Jugiong for morning tea. Loved this sign outside the pub.
Mel loved our dog friendly site at Capital Country Holiday Park on the outskirts of Canberra. Pity about the temperature range, max 6, min -1!
Last legs of our roadtrip back home from Queensland via Sydney. This is another’big’ - it’s the Big Merino in Goulburn.
Colourful murals on a bar wall in Crows Nest, Sydney.
Fun time playing golf on a rare sunny Sydney day last winter at Northbridge Golf Club with youngest son Jay on our way back from our Queensland caravanning roadtrip.
Catalina Bay at Rathmines on Lake Macquarie in NSW.
Heading further south we came to Mannering Park on Lake Macquarie.
Pelican perched on a lamp post at Tea Gardens.
Even though the sign says so, this is not the Tea Gardens Post Office but it is another fabulous reflection shot that I’m happy to share.
Beautiful calm day at Tea Gardens provided me the perfect reflection shot of the ferry.
This is the trail from the caravan park to Jimmy’s Beach itself, taken as we went for a late afternoon walk with Mel. Just loved all the Aussie native plants along the way.
Nice for our little Mel to meet another dog her size and colouring at Jimmy’s Beach.
Another day, another beach as we continued down the NSW coast. This is Jimmy’s Beach, taken as we went for a late afternoon walk with Mel.
Beautiful Banksia cone seen on our walk to Emerald Beach.
There are lots of ‘big’ things around Australia. The ‘Big Banana’ in Coffs Harbour is one of the originals. I first saw it back in 1969!
View of South Solitary Island as we walked along Emerald Beach. Look carefully and you’ll spot the lighthouse.
At the southern end of Emerald Beach we found the cut off end of this peaceful creek. Suspect it meets the sea after heavy rain.
Far end of Emerald Beach after a good walk. Didn’t find any emeralds- just the piece of conglomerate with shells in it.

Having a good relationship with your travel agent is always important but even more so when you need to make quick decision and have them act on it. So it was the next morning when we Skyped our travel agent early. (Well it was in Japan but business hours were just starting back in  Australia.) […]

Beppu – Kyushu’s Hot Spring Town

By now the corona virus situation was clearly not just confined to a few countries but an issue for every country if they didn’t take action. So we chatted with our son in Tokyo and our travel agent about what to do. Clearly our trip was going to be greatly shortened but we needed our […]

Fukuoka castle and Hakata temples

Staying in an apartment gave us the opportunity to prepare our own breakfast for  the first time in about ten days. After that we walked to the nearby Higashi-hie metro station and took a trip across to Tojinmachi Station. From there it was only a short walk to Ohiro Park. We came into the park from […]

Hello, If you are a new reader I hope you have enjoyed reading about the beginnings of our travels in Taiwan most recently. Or perhaps you have read older posts previously as Karen and I have trained, bussed, driven and walked around Japan, Dubai, Spain, the Galápagos Islands, Colombia, Chilean Patagonia and, of course, Australia […]

Taipei

Taipei

As we drove to Melbourne Airport in my brother’s car we noticed peak hour was just about over. So we arrived in good time to check in just after 7:30pm for our 10:35pm flight direct to Taipei. The flight was about two thirds full and took off a few minutes behind schedule. As late dinner […]

Two Glaciers and a Chilean Ranch

We took an early breakfast and then walked into town to the travel agent’s office. From there we joined a busload of fellow travellers and were bussed out to Puerto Bories. Here we boarded our boat for the day. It wasn’t the most modern but had plenty of tables with seats. We sat down with […]
