After breakfast we joined the walking group as they set off to do the Screw Creek Nature Walk. At the beginning we walked through the neighbouring Foreshore Caravan and Camping Area and past the carpark. One of the leaders had a very old map of the walk but as we found out it was a well marked trail.

First up the trail leads to two possibilities. One is to go up the path along the creek and the other leads out to the Townsend Bluff Circuit Trail.

We ended up doing both. After about half a kilometre from the carpark we crossed the creek

before heading off to the left to a viewing platform further along the creek.

Then we backtracked down to the intersection and followed the path towards Townsend Bluff. Loved this old Eucalyptus tree with branches shooting off in all directions.

One of the lower branches was ideal for a drink stop.

Here’s the view from the bluff looking back towards the town and the entry to Andersons Inlet.

After retracing our steps to the intersection we turned back towards Inverloch township.

Once we were back at the start of the track

we headed through the foreshore camping area and back down to the the appropriately named Inverloch Corner Store for lunch and a chat before a quiet afternoon for many. Karen and I took one of her friends in the group out to the Melaleuca Nursery.

It’s a local native plant nursery with a good range, only 5kms from the town. Both Karen and her friend found a plant they wanted so it was worth checking out a different nursery to the ones at home.
That evening we had barbecue with the group. It was another fun night. The following morning we hooked up the caravan and returned home.
Next post I’ll take you back in time.
What a lovely walk – that old Eucalyptus is absolutely incredible!

Yes it is a nice walk and the tree was magnificent. It was very peaceful and a good time of the year before the summer crowds. Thanks for your comment. Cheers, Mark

Yes, the old Eucalyptus tree is indeed beautiful. And having a barbecue (or a ‘braai’ as we call it here in South Africa) sounds like a perfect way to end the weekend.
