Spring in Sydney – Day 3

After a wonderful walk the previous day and a good night’s sleep we planned a more relaxed day before our flight home that evening. So after packing up we took our cases down to Jay and Kaede’s apartment in Neutral Bay about 10am. From there it was a short walk back to one of their favourite places for Sunday brunch, Ken’s Kissa, a Japanese restaurant. It probably wasn’t a surprise to see a queue waiting for a table. We popped our details on their noticeboard waiting list at the entrance to the restaurant and chatted while we waited for a table. Pretty soon we were being shown to a table inside.

Brunch at Ken’s Kissa

Considering how busy it was our food started to arrive pretty quickly. I had ordered eggs benedict which came with a small salad and a baked lemon.

Jay ordered pork katsu which was also beautifully presented.

Kaede’s meal of fish looked like a personal buffet.

Karen’s meal was the most interesting to watch when it brought to the table. It was raw salmon on a bed of rice but the waitress poured a boiling broth from a teapot over the salmon to cook it to perfection.

Here’s all four meals. Just delicious food.

Lunch over we headed down the hill below Military Rd for a short walk.

It’s a well treed area and there are lots of interesting houses, as well as apartment blocks in the area.

Along the way we found this Grevillea in bloom.

Back at Jay and Kaede’s apartment we had a quick chat before calling for an Uber to take out us out to the airport in plenty of time. We had a quick look in the shops before we boarded our flight back to Melbourne. This giant Lego character caught our eye. It would have taken a long time to build we thought.

Even though it had been a fun and busy weekend we were happy to be back home in time to drive home before daylight ended.

Next post we head down to the Gippsland seaside town of Inverloch.
