Watsons Bay to Rose Bay walk
Once the weekend came Jay and Kaede were free from work to join us for a walk. So after breakfast we walked along Military Road from Cremorne to their apartment in Neutral Bay passing this fabulous Nutcote mural by Tim de Haan and Nikki Parker.

We were soon on a bus into the city, alighting at Wynyard again, just as a tourist bus came in.

Following the same route as the day before we quickly walked to Circular Quay

and boarded a ferry bound for Watsons Bay.

It did stop at Rose Bay

but we stayed on until Watsons Bay.

After a short walk along the beach

we joined the South Head Heritage Trail.

At the end of the trail there was a good view back to the city.

We continued following the trail as it went up and down.

After the previous day’s excursion to the Sydney Royal Botanic Garden (Click here to read more about that.) it was nice to see more native plants in bloom as we went.

We continued along the Loop Track. At the end we took a couple of photos.

Some preferring to take a bit more risk.

We passed the lightkeeper’s cottage

and the lighthouse itself.

We continued back passing through some nice bush land.

We were now seeing yellow Bondi to Manly signs. Our walk being part of the much longer walk.

We crossed over the Paisley Bay Bridge in Vaucluse

with its cute little beach

and water views.

After walking through the streets of Vaucluse we came to a sharp descent.

Within five minutes we were enjoying water views as we came closer to sea level.

At times we were on a boardwalk

and others we were crossing short stretches of sand.

It was truly a scenic walk.

About 16:15 we finally made it to Rose Bay and walked through one of the lanes

back onto the beach, about four hours after starting at Watsons Bay,

and along to the Rose Bay ferry terminal where we appreciated the chance to sit down as we waited for the next ferry to arrive. As we were returning to Sydney a cruise ship was making its’ way out.

Once at Circular Quay

we made our way out to the bus stop and returned to Neutral Bay. After a rest we took a short walk into Neutral Bay where we ate some delicious dumplings at the busy Master Dumpling restaurant.

Next post we have a quieter day but eat more!
Such a scenic walk – I love the beach section! 🙂

Thanks for your comment Hannah. Yes, being able to see back to the harbour bridge and the city across the water is really scenic. Walking near the water is nice but the sand is harder to walk on so I don’t mind being on the trail near the little beaches. Cheers, Mark

A walk by the water is one of my favourite things to do … and it seems that you had beautiful views all around.
