Sydney Weekend Trip

Now that our youngest son, Jay lives and works in Sydney we fly up a few times a year to spend time with him.

As it turned out one of our trips coincided with the first round of AFL football and our team, Melbourne, was playing Sydney so not only did we go but our twins, Todd and Lee, joined us.

Sadly we weren’t quite so happy at the end of the game as our team lost. Anyway we were there supporting our team at least.

The next morning Karen and I took a bus into the CBD and walked around to the Rocks area. Loved this mural of how this lane looked in former days.

Then we continued walking around until we met up with my cousin Margie for a drink and a chat.

A massive cruise ship docked at Circular Quay, with the two most famous Sydnay icons either side of the photo.

Of course we took some photos here, just as the couple in the background were too.

After farewelling my cousin we walked beneath the Harbour Bridge. This isn’t the famous view but I thought it was interesting.

After walking under the bridge we made our way through the edge of the CBD and past a couple of iconic Sydney buildings

before reaching the Terrace on the Domain cafe opposite the art gallery where we met up with friends from our Indian trip for lunch.

After lunch and a good chat we parted ways. We walked back to Circular Quay and took a ferry back over to Cremorne Point

passing the Sydney Opera House on the way.

Here are a couple more photos of the views we saw.

That night we headed to a nearby American hamburger and ribs restaurant. Yummy but not the healthiest food.

The next morning the four of us took a walk from Cremorne down to Jay’s apartment then he joined us as we walked down to Kurraba Point Reserve.

At the bottom of the reserve we had some good views.

From there we took a longer walk back into Crows Nest we we lunched

then walked back to Neutral Bay.

To reach Jay’s apartment we had to take a temporary bridge over the freeway works near Neutral Bay.

Then we climbed up the steep hill on a lovely path back to Jay’s apartment for a rest.

That night Jay joined us as we ate take away Thai for dinner at our Air BnB in Cremorne. Sorry no photos.

The next morning after breakfast we walked along Military Rd to Jay’s place. He again joined us and guided us down to Anderson Park

Clearly some wealthy people live here when you take a look at the boats, the houses and the views.

From there we diverted a bit and walked back up to North Sydney for lunch

before walking to Jay’s apartment.

Mid afternoon we took an Uber to the airport after farewelling Jay. It had been a lovely mini break and time well spent with three of our four sons.
