Euroa to Dromana
It was another cold morning but nowhere near as cold as the morning before. We were soon on the road and heading down the Hume. At the Seymour sign we exited.

We drove through the town and onto the road to Yea. This route allows us to go around the east side of Melbourne rather than through it. Driving through the city towing a caravan can be quite stressful.
As we crossed the Goulburn River we could see fog on the hills.

For a while the road was fine

but then we found ourselves driving in foggy surrounds.

At Yea we took the road south through the Yarra Ranges.

Nearer to Yarra Glen we could see the bare vines in the vineyards along the road.

Here’s an old railway bridge; it’s disused nowadays, but I thought it was worth a quick snap.

At Lilydale we turned onto the road to Montrose past Lilydale Lake. We were meeting a friend, on the way home, at Hahndorf’s Fine Chocolates. It’s a cafe and chocolate shop. Fortunately there is a football ground carpark nearby so we had no trouble parking the Hilux and caravan. It was good to catch up with a familiar face after so many weeks on the road. After warming up with a delicious hot chocolate and some chocolate, of course, we headed back towards home. It was less than an hour’s driving until we saw the sign for the Dromana turn off and the peak of Arthur’s Seat in front of us.

Our house is part way up the hill in the distance in the centre of this snap.

Given the time we made some lunch then unpacked the caravan after I had backed it into it’s usual parking place at our house.
Distance travelled = 250 kms

It had been a great trip but as we looked around our garden we were happy to be home seeing some of our plants blooming spectacularly.

Some lovely wattles

and a spectacular Eucalyptus ‘Silver Princess’

It’s always nice to be back home on the Peninsula.

Yes it’s nice to be at home on the Peninsula but at this time of the year we’re glad to be able to head north for a while. Safe travels. Cheers, Mark

It’s true what you say … it’s great to go on road trips and see so many new things. But how nice it is to be back at one’s own home (and in your own bed)!

Actually our caravan bed is as good as, if not better than, our bed at home so that’s one thing we don’t sacrifice when caravanning. Cheers
