Thanks for joining us! After many trips to other countries in recent years we have decided to join Australia’s ever expanding ‘Grey Nomads’ and check out more of our own country. Last year we purchased a Toyota Hilux and earlier this year we bought a pre-loved Jayco Freedom pop top caravan. It may be a bit old but it is in good condition and will do what we want.
Last week we took the caravan down to Inverloch for a trial run. It’s about a two hours drive from our place in Dromana. We booked a space at the foreshore camping area.
Apart from a flock of these little blue wrens we had the whole camping area to ourselves!
During the afternoon we walked in the bush area along the foreshore and near Screw Creek. In the evening we cheated by not cooking and buying some delicious fish and chips for dinner. Fell asleep to the sound of the sea after watching a DVD of an old Australian classic, Malcolm. It was a peaceful start to our caravanning life.
In my next post we begin our Big Caravan Trip. We intend travelling through Victoria, up through South Australia and the Northern Territory and down the coast of Western Australia to Perth. From there we will return home via the Nullarbor Plain.
