Pre Christmas Sydney Trip – Day 3

The next morning we had a slow start to the day, grabbing some food for breakfast at the Milsons Point IGA supermarket. Mid morning Jay arrived at our apartment and we took the bus to Cammeray. The reason for going there was because there is a Harris Farm Markets there and we know they sell a few things that we can’t get in Melbourne as they are a NSW based chain. After a good look around we made our purchases and Jay did his meat and fruit and vegetable shopping too. From there we took a bus back to Jay’s apartment before heading up to Crows Nest via the Metro for lunch. We ate at Bare Wholefoods for lunch. Jay ate a bowl of Bone-broth with chicken and I had a Breakfast Roll but Karen went straight to dessert and had Spiced Pumpkin Waffle. (Yes, that is chocolate dirt!)

From there we walked through Crows Nest and up to the next suburb, St Leonards so we could visit Kaede at her work at Hi Q Japan, a store selling Japanese home goods, foods and drinks.

The shopping centre there was very quiet. Kaede’s work is right next to a Coles supermarket so they get passing trade.

After saying hello and having a bit of a look at what they were selling

we took a train back into Sydney’s CBD. First up we went to Martin Place to visit their Christmas Market. There were a number of Christmas trees

and other decorations to see

as well as having a look at some of the stalls.

As we made our way along we passed this grand building, Challis House,

before we walked down to Circular Quay passing a strip of cafes on the edge of First Fleet Park.

There was another Christmas Market at Circular Quay. So we had a bit of a look around there. The stalls extended along the waterfront all the way around to the Rocks Market. It was very busy.

A big crowd had gathered to watch a busker juggling but we didn’t stop to watch. Here’s a glimpse through this piece of sculpture.

We continued looking at the stalls, eventually finding a couple of Christmas presents.

Shopping finished we made our way through the crowd back to Circular Quay and caught a ferry back under the bridge

to Milsons Point.

Many of the passengers that disembarked made their way into Luna Park

but we walked under the bridge

and up towards our apartment passing the North Sydney welcome sign.

That night we bought some take away pizza from Kirribilli Pizzeria in the adjoining suburb of Kirribilli, just a five minute walk from our apartment. Later on Jay walked home to meet up with Kaede who had worked late.

Next post we explore Kirribilli more and visit one of Sydney Harbour’s islands.
