Each year Karen’s walking group makes a couple of trips away to other parts of Victoria for a walking holiday. Given some members of the group have caravans they usually pick a town with a good range of walks nearby with a caravan park that has powered sites and cabins for the rest of the group to have an economical time away.
This time Inverloch on the Bass Coast to the south west of Melbourne was the destination.

So once we had hooked up the caravan we headed off towards Phillip Island.

After about an hour we turned off the towards Wonthagi and Inverloch.

The terrain here is rolling hills and good grazing land.

We passed through Kilkunda, a popular seaside town which is prone to windy weather from Bass Strait.

The road went inland for a while as we passed through Dalyston and the bigger town of Wonthaggi before arriving in Inverloch where we made our way to the Big4 Ingenia Holidays caravan park. After checking in and setting up we took a short walk along the foreshore trail towards the town. The tide was out.

Here’s a view up to the entrance to Andersons Inlet.

Here’s another nice view from the lookout point.

By now we were getting hungry for lunch so we turned back. It was nice to see tea tree in bloom along the side of the trail.

We spent our afternoon reading and saying hello as other members of the group arrived before having a shared dinner in the spacious dining room part of the camp kitchen.
Next post we take Inverloch’s Screw Creek Nature Walk.
