Hervey Bay
The fact that the Windmill Caravan Park is in Urangan was a good thing as we really like the Saturday market near the pier. So after breakfast we wandered along the street to the market to have a good look and purchase a few fruit and veggie items. It’s quite a lively market because there is a stage and always someone playing music.

After having walked the whole market area we started to make our way back to the caravan park. We went a slightly different way which turned out to be good as we saw a beautiful mural along the way. It was so big I had to take two photos to show the detail.

Next up we went to the supermarket to buy a few more things. The afternoon was pretty quiet as we sat in the sun and read. Late afternoon we went down to the Esplanade and refuelled the Hilux before taking a walk along the shared trail. We enjoyed another barbecue dinner. It had been good to just relax.
After breakfast the next morning we walked down to the esplanade and walked along to one of the leash free beaches.

There was a small pier marking the beginning of the leash free area.

Once her leash was off Mel went for a quick run.

Interestingly she even dipped her feet in the water, something that rarely happens as she hates water, especially a bath!

Anyhow we continued walking along the beach.

There weren’t any other dogs around but Mel ran off to look to see if she could find a playmate.

After finding no other dog Mel was happy to come back to Karen to receive a treat.

Just as we were coming to the little pier where we had started we met another dog, it had been treated to a purple hair change!

After exchanging greetings and discovering this dog wasn’t interested in running around we made our way off the beach and walked back to the caravan for lunch and a cup of tea.

Late afternoon we went for another walk. This time we headed inland to a path that led to a park.

The garden beds along the side of the path made it a very pleasant place to walk.

At the end of the path there was a small lake to the right.

On closer inspection it was a lake we had visited about three years ago when we had stayed at a different caravan park in Hervey Bay. And yes, small turtles still lived in the lake.

After a quick look we walked back to the caravan for dinner and an early night. Tomorrow we would begin our return journey home.
