Tin Can Bay
Earlier in the year when we decided to stay in this part of Queensland I was in two minds whether to stay in Rainbow Beach or nearby Tin Can Bay so curiosity got the better of us and we decided to drive around to Tin Can Bay. Great name isn’t it. At last we had a sunny morning as we drove along.

It wasn’t that long and we were entering the town. It’s about an hour return trip.

We decided to drive right up through the town and to the end of the road at Norman Point. We parked and collected Mel out of the car. There was lots of evidence of all the recent rain.

Fortunately there was a boardwalk along a park adjacent to the road.

A flowering Acacia was blooming even though winter was nowhere near over.

There were a few houseboats moored close to shore.

The tide was out as you can see.

After walking a fair way we headed back to the car before driving into the shopping centre area. We bought a loaf of bread at the bakery to take back to the caravan for lunch.
After looking at a map of the town we drove down to another area called Crab Creek. We thought we would do another walk there. Again there were lots of boats moored. It was a serene view. However the sign warning us of crocodiles had us curtailing our walk quickly. Mel is a great little guard dog but would have been no match for a croc!

Our drive back to Rainbow Beach saw us driving through the well spread out township of Cooloola Cove.

However, back at the caravan, whilst eating our sandwich lunch made with the yummy fresh bread we had purchased in Tin Can Bay, the rain came down again and it kept raining for a couple of hours.

A rainbow in Rainbow Beach!
About 3:30pm it finally stopped. I had been wanting to have my hair cut so quickly started the drive into Rainbow Beach shops. Right in front of me was a rainbow, very fitting.

Rainbow Beach Marina
On my return Karen and I took Mel for a walk over to the marina in anticipation of a sunset. Some fishermen were gutting fish and pelicans and other birds were hanging around looking for a quick feed.

The tide was out and the water was so still I took a few photos with nice reflections.

Sadly there were too many clouds for a sunset photo but the sky was still quite attractive.

Next post we do some more exploring nearer to Rainbow Beach.
