Warwick
Disappointingly it was still raining the next morning so we took our time over breakfast and slowly packed up our caravan. We refueled and drove into the town, passing a lovely old stone church on the way.

We had arranged to meet up with a third cousin of mine for lunch. Her Dad and my Dad were cousins. She and her husband lived on a cattle property about half an hour from Warwick. We had chatted on the phone and sent each other emails but hadn’t actually seen each other for about fifty years! She had recommended we meet at a garden centre and cafe for lunch. Arriving at the appointed time we easily recognised each other and quickly went inside out of the ever present drizzly rain. Over the next couple of hours we had a great chat and shared lots of photos as we ate lunch.

Eventually we said our farewells. They were doing their weekly shopping whilst in Warwick and we were still going to drive on a bit further to Toowoomba.
Warwick to Toowoomba
As we set off more light rain fell.

It was only about an hour from Warwick to Toowoomba and the terrain was rich volcanic soil, suitable for farming of all kinds.

As we came closer to Toowoomba we also saw evidence of a few small extinct volcanoes.

We also noted that we were driving along the New England Highway and that we were coming to the beginning of two tourist routes, Australia’s Country Way and the Warrego Way.

Soon we were on the outskirts and came to the Toowoomba Motor Village where we would be staying the next two nights. Misty rain fell on us as we set up the caravan but we did receive the reward of a lovely rainbow just as we finished.

Distance travelled – 85 kms
Next post we explore Toowoomba, the Garden City, as it is known.
How lovely to reconnect with family, and that last shot with the rainbow is lovely.
