Queensland Roadtrip – Day 77

Brr, it was really cold. The caravan may be insulated and the heater was on but at 4:09 Karen and I were both trying to warm up. We put another doona on the bed and turned up the heater. That soon helped. My weather app told us it was zero and would head down another degree before it improved.

We did manage a bit more sleep. Eventually we made the decision to leave our reasonably warm bed and eat breakfast. Next up, we packed up quickly. Mel was having a quick explore around our ‘Dog Freedom Site’.

By 9:30 we were driving around the edge of Canberra, making our way to the road that would lead back to the Hume Highway, heading south to Melbourne. After about an hour we came to the turn off.

A further hour later we arrived at the little town of Jugiong. It was time to swap over who was driving. Loved this cute sign.

We parked and went into the Sir George, the local pub and ordered hot drinks. The sun may have been shining but it still wasn’t very warm.

Back on the road again we were making good progress.

We stopped at a roadside parking area just north of the twin border towns of Albury/Wodonga for lunch. Hume Weir came into view not long after we resumed driving.

The signs for various destinations in Victoria started appearing.

Then this sign, welcoming us back to our home state, Victoria.

Victoria again

Fields of golden canola could be seen as we drove along.

Also paddocks with sheep grazing.

Late afternoon we arrived in Euroa. It’s about 160 kms north of Melbourne. At this stage we had no intention of crossing the city in peak time. So we booked into the lovely Euroa caravan park and set up. We were happy to stretch our legs and walk along the adjoining creek before settling in for the night.

Next time we complete our journey and return home.

Distance travelled = 519 kms
